About Me
Hi my name is Michaela Knudsen. It’s funny how things fall into place when you least expect them to but when I think back about how I became a personal trainer it’s a simple story. I started working at a gym as a receptionist and cleaner, for no other reason than I had returned back from Overseas – and the gym my mum went to needed an office hand.

It’s all about seeing the potenial
I saw a range of people at reception, wanting to get fitter, stronger, to take some time for themselves, keep a friend or family member company, or come along for the social connection. I saw people using machines – and using machines incorrectly, and I saw the potential of what the body was capable of with the right direction.
With a gymnastics and sporting background, and a bit of an idea of how the body could move, I knew I wanted to help people – by becoming more aware of their bodies, and showing them what they were capable of, often so much more than they thought!
A wealth of experience
The gym was a complete eye opener to how restricted people’s workouts could be. I noticed how they used one directional machines, how they got comfortable with their day to day routines and how they did not understand the potential of their bodies. I wanted to change that to show people that everybody moves differently, and sometimes gym machines can be more intimidating than useful.
So I studied Exercise Prescription and Sports Management, which lead to more study to become a Personal Trainer. I graduated with merit in 2009, and have never looked back. I have gained so much experience from numerous fields including Women’s health and fitness centers, University and community recreation gyms, and outdoor boot camps.I love being creative-and thinking outside the box, and this gives me the perfect opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
Personally I think the body is the best piece of equipment, you can take it everywhere!
